Kentucky P-16 Council1999 2000The P-16 Council is a joint initiative of the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) and the Council on Post-secondary Education (CPE). The Council is charged with ensuring necessary communication and coordination between the CPE and KDE, especially concerning the development of projects that address the core issues of teacher education, curriculum alignment, and transitions between levels of the educational system. Steve assisted with the design and facilitated a series of meetings for the Literacy Alignment Team and the Math Alignment Team. The P-16 Council established these teams in order to develop recommendations aimed at reducing the need for remedial placement at the post-secondary level. Both teams included representatives from the post-secondary institutions in the state, as well as teachers at the elementary and secondary levels.
